Idle Speed & Ignition Timing

Ensure idle speed and base ignition timing are set to specification. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  and IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS  tables. If necessary, see appropriate ADJUSTMENTS article.

IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS

(1) Place automatic transmission in Park.
(2) Idle speed is preset and is not adjustable. Use New Generation Star Tester (49-T088-0A0) connected to data link connector to verify idle speed.
IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)

B2300, B3000 & B4000 (2) (2)
(1) Place automatic transmission in Park.
(2) Base (initial) timing is preset at 8-12 degrees BTDC and is not adjustable.
