Fuel Pressure Regulator

  1. Install Fuel Pressure Gauge (49 UN01 010) in fuel supply line. Start and operate engine at idle. Disconnect and plug fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose. Drive vehicle under heavy acceleration while observing fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should hold steady within 3 psi (.21 kg/cm2 ). If fuel pressure does not hold steady, check for clogged fuel filter.
  2. Connect a vacuum pump to fuel pressure regulator and apply vacuum. Fuel pressure should decrease as vacuum is increased. If fuel pressure is not as specified, replace fuel pressure regulator. If fuel pressure is as specified, check vacuum hose and source.
