Master Cylinder Push Rod
- Before installing master cylinder, measure clearance between master cylinder piston and power brake unit push rod. Place Adjusting Gauge (49-F043-001) on master cylinder. Turn adjusting bolt until it bottoms in master cylinder piston push rod hole.
- Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply 19.7 in. Hg to power brake unit. Invert adjusting gauge and place on power brake unit. Measure clearance between end of adjusting bolt and power brake unit push rod. See Fig 1
. Clearance should be zero.
- If clearance is not zero, loosen push rod lock nut. Using Socket Wrench (49-B043-004) and Turning Lock Tool (49-E043-003A), turn push rod until clearance is .004-.015" (.1-.4 mm) with 19.7 in. Hg vacuum applied.
