Test No. 2

  1. Check 20-amp fuse No. 5 located in engine compartment fuse/relay box, on left inner fender. Replace fuse as necessary. Check wiring harness and connectors for damage or loose connections. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Repair wiring and connections as necessary. Retest system operation. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel, next to steering column. Following NGS scan tool instructions, retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Using NGS scan tool, perform ON DEMAND SELF TEST. If no DTC are set, go to next step. Retest system operation. If DTC(s) is set, perform the following:
    • If DTCs B1302 (self-test) and B1398 (continuous) are set, go to next step.
    • If DTC B1398 (continuous and self-test) is set, go to step 5).
    • If DTC B1398 (continuous and self-test) and B1404 (continuous) are set, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire between GEM and one-touch down relay. Check and replace fuse as necessary. Clear DTCs. Retest system operation.
    • If DTC B1404 (continuous) is set, go to step 12).
    • If DTC B1405 (self-test) is set, go to step 13).
    • If DTC B1408 (self-test) is set, repair short to battery voltage in Orange/White wire between terminal No. 2 of GEM 18-pin connector and driver's window motor.
    • If DTC B1410 (continuous and self-test) is set, go to step 14).
    • If DTC B1478 (continuous) is set, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at Dark Green/White wire of power window relay located under passenger's side of instrument panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Dark Green/White wire between instrument panel fuse block (located under driver's side of instrument panel) and power window relay.
  4. Check for battery voltage at Black/White wire of power window relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, go to step 9). If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black/White wire between engine compartment fuse/relay box (on left inner fender) and power window relay.
  5. Check for open in Black/White wire between engine compartment fuse/relay box (on left inner fender) and power window relay (under passenger's side of instrument panel). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Black/White wire is okay, go to next step.
  6. Check for voltage at 20-amp fuse No. 5 located in engine compartment fuse/relay box, on left inner fender. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in power feed circuit to engine compartment fuse/relay box.
  7. Check for short to ground in Black/White wire between engine compartment fuse/relay box and power window relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Black/White wire is okay, go to next step.
  8. Check for short to ground in Black wire between power window relay and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Black wire is okay, go to next step.
  9. Check for open in Light Blue/Black wire between main switch and power window relay (under passenger's side of instrument panel). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Light Blue/Black wire is okay, go to next step.
  10. Check for short to ground in Light Blue/Black wire between main switch and power window relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Light Blue/Black wire is okay, go to next step.
  11. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for open in Red wire between one-touch down relay (behind center of instrument panel, in relay box No. 1) and driver's power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If Red wire is okay, go to next step.
  12. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check one-touch down relay for proper operation. Replace as necessary. If one-touch down relay is okay, go to next step.
  13. Check for open in White/Black wire between main switch and driver's power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If White/Black wire is okay, go to next step.
  14. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for open in Tan/Light Blue wire between main switch and one-touch down relay (behind center of instrument panel, in relay box No. 1). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. Tan/Light Blue wire is okay, locate open in Tan/Light Blue wire between one-touch down relay and GEM (behind center of instrument panel). Repair as necessary.
