Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) Sensor
- If DPFE sensor circuit is open or shorted, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) should set. A DTC will also set if exhaust manifold side or intake manifold side hose is disconnected or plugged. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article. If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
- To check DPFE sensor, connect New Generation Star (49 T088 0A0) scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) 2. DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Using scan tool, access DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK menu, and select PCM. Highlight and select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access DPFEGR PID and record PID voltage while operating vehicle under specified condition. See DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE FEEDBACK EGR (DPFE) SENSOR VOLTAGE table. If DPFEGR PID voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access DPFEGR PID. Disconnect tubes from DPFE sensor. Connect hand vacuum pump to intake manifold side of DPFE sensor (smaller diameter port). Apply vacuum and recheck DPFEGR PID voltage. See DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE FEEDBACK EGR (DPFE) SENSOR VOLTAGE table. If DPFEGR PID voltage is not as specified, replace DPFE sensor.
