Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

  1. If VSS sensor circuit is open or shorted, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) should set. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article. If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  2. VSS is located at left rear of transmission. To check VSS, disconnect VSS connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between VSS terminals. Resistance should be 190-250 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace VSS.
