Ignition Coil Resistance

  1. Disconnect distributor 3-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, measure primary resistance between terminals "A" and "B". See Figure . Resistance should be as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace distributor.
  2. Remove distributor cap. Using an ohmmeter, measure secondary resistance between terminal "A" and coil tower. See Figure . Resistance should be as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace distributor.

(1) Remove distributor cap to measure secondary coil resistance.
