Electronic Ignition System

  1. All models use a distributorless high data rate electronic ignition system. Diagnosis of this ignition system requires some or all of the following equipment:
    • High impedance DVOM.
    • EI Diagnostic Harness (49 UN01 057).
    • 60-pin breakout box (49 UN01 058).
    • 104-pin breakout box (49 UN01 130).
    • New Generation Star (NGS) Scan Tool (49 T088 0A0) or OBD-II equivalent scan tool.
  2. Check for any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repair as necessary. See TESTS W/CODES article. If no DTCs are present, go to NO START (NO SPARK).
