OBD II Drive Cycle

NOTE:
  • Once started, the engine must not be turned off during the drive cycle.
  1. Start the engine and drive the vehicle.
  2. Drive in stop and go traffic for 20 minutes with at least 4 idle periods.
  3. Drive on an expressway or highway for 10 to 15 minutes. Access and monitor the IAT PID on the scan tool during the entire highway drive. Heavy accelerations, sudden decelerations or wide open throttles are not recommended on any vehicle.
    NOTE:
    • If inlet air temperature is below 40°F (4°C) at anytime during the highway drive, the Evaporative Emission Monitor will not complete.
  4. Access the ON BOARD SYSTEM READINESS menu to check completion status.
  5. Rerun Continuous Memory Self-Test to check P1000 code status.
    NOTE:
    • If the Evaporative Emission Monitor is the only monitor not showing completion status on the NGS Tester and P1000 has been cleared, the OBD II drive cycle has been completed.
