Generator Output: MPV

  1. Connect an in-line ammeter (120-amp minimum) between generator terminal "B" connector and terminal "B" of wiring harness connector. See Fig 2 . Turn off all electrical loads. Operate engine at 2000-2500 RPM. Turn headlights and all accessories on and verify current reading increases.
  2. Measure and record generator output. See GENERATOR MAXIMUM RATED OUTPUT  table. If amperage is as specified, go to next step. If amperage is not as specified, repair or replace generator.
  3. Operate engine at idle. Measure voltage between terminal "B" and ground. If 13-15 volts do not exist, repair or replace generator. If 13-15 volts do exist, generator output is okay.
