DTC P0106: BARO Circuit Problem: Testing

NOTE: Ensure freeze frame data has been recorded. Check for service bulletins and on-line information.
  1. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. If DTC P1487 is present, diagnose and repair first. If DTC P1487 is not present, go to next step.
  2. If freeze frame data is present for DTC P0106, go to next step. If freeze frame data is not present for DTC P0106, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  3. Check vacuum hoses between EGR boost sensor, EGR boost sensor solenoid and EGR valve. If no problems are found, go to next step. If any problems are found, repair and go to step  7 .
  4. Check EGR boost sensor solenoid air filter. If filter is okay, go to next step. If filter is clogged, clean or replace and go to step  7 .
  5. Disconnect EGR boost sensor vacuum hose. Disconnect EGR boost sensor solenoid lower vacuum hose. Connect vacuum pump to EGR boost sensor solenoid lower port. Apply vacuum to lower port. Vacuum should hold. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, activate solenoid (EGRBV). Follow manufacturer's instructions. Solenoid should open and vacuum release. If solenoid operation is as specified, go to next step. If solenoid does not operate as specified, replace solenoid and go to step  7 .
  6. Check EGR boost sensor. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE & 626 article. If sensor is okay, go to next step. If sensor is faulty, replace sensor and go to next step.
  7. Reconnect all components. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTC. Perform Drive Modes 1, 2 and 3. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION - MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV & PROTEGE article. Recheck DTCs. If DTC P0106 is present, replace PCM and go to next step. PCM is mounted to passenger floor, behind glove box. If DTC P0106 is not present, go to next step.
  8. Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is present, testing is complete. If any DTC is present, go to appropriate test for diagnosis and repair.
