To Erase Additional Keys Using Only Two Programmed Keys

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • With two programmed keys, it is possible to erase the codes for all OTHER additional keys to make them unusable (i.e. after they have been lost).

Erasure procedure:

  1. Follow steps 1-4 as described above.
  2. After second key, insert the first key AGAIN and switch ignition to ON.
  3. The security light will flash rapidly for five seconds.
  4. All key codes BUT the two keys used in this procedure have been erased and will not start the vehicle.
NOTE:
  • If the ignition is switched OFF before the five second period (described in step three) has completed, the erasure procedure is cancelled and NO key codes are erased.
NOTE:
  • All keys erased may again be reprogrammed by following the programming procedure.
