DTC P0443: EVAP System, Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction: Testing
NOTE:
Check for service bulletins and on-line information.
- Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent. If DTC is present, go to next step.
- Disconnect intake manifold vacuum hose at purge solenoid valve. Apply vacuum at purge solenoid valve fitting. If vacuum does not hold, go to next step. If vacuum holds for at least a few seconds, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect purge solenoid valve connector. Apply vacuum at purge solenoid valve fitting. If vacuum does not hold, replace purge solenoid valve. If vacuum holds for at least a few seconds, repair short to ground on Green/Black wire. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Inspect purge solenoid valve harness connector. If no problems are found, go to next step. If any problems are found, repair as needed. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Check resistance between terminals on purge solenoid valve component connector. If resistance is 22-26 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 22-26 ohms, replace purge solenoid valve. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage between solenoid valve harness connector terminal "A" (White/Red wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or short circuit between purge solenoid valve and main relay. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. PCM is mounted to passenger floor, behind glove box. Inspect connector and PCM terminals. If no problems are found, go to next step. If any problems are found, repair as needed. After repair, go to step 9 .
- Reconnect solenoid valve connector. Connect a breakout box to PCM harness connector. Do not connect PCM. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between breakout box terminal No. 18 and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair Green/Black wire between solenoid valve and PCM. After repair, go to next step.
- Reconnect all components. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. If DTC is not present, go to next step. If DTC is present, replace PCM and go to next step.
- Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no DTC is present, testing is complete. If any DTC is present, go to appropriate test for diagnosis and repair.
