System Check

Start engine, and let idle. Actuator should not operate at engine speeds of less than 3300 RPM. Raise engine speed. Actuator should operate at engine speeds of more than 3300 RPM. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P1512, P1518 or P1520 are present, see appropriate test in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - MPV. If no DTCs are present, start engine. Using scan tool, select SIMULATION TEST. Turn IMRC actuator on and off. If actuator operation is heard, check actuator cable tension and condition. Repair as necessary. If actuator operation is not heard, check Green/White wire between main relay and actuator terminal No. 2. Check Black/White wire between actuator terminal No. 3 and ground. Check Black/Red wire and Black/Yellow wire between actuator terminal No. 1 and PCM terminal No. 42. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace actuator.
