Mode 4: EVAP System Repair Verification

NOTE: Performing Drive Mode 1 before Drive Mode 4 is not necessary.
  1. Verify all the following conditions are met. All conditions must be within specification before engine is started to initiate the EVAP system test:

    • Engine Coolant Temperature

      14-X°F (-10-X°C). X = engine coolant temperature upper limit as determined by barometric pressure. SeeFig 1.
    • Intake Air Temperature

      50-131°F (-10-55°C).
    • Barometric Pressure

      72.0 kPa or more.
    • Fuel Tank Level

      0.5-2.5 volts.
  2. Verify all accessory loads (A/C, headlights, blower fan and rear window defroster) are off.
  3. Start engine and race at 3500 RPM to warm completely.
  4. Drive vehicle as specified. SeeFig 2.
  5. Stop vehicle and access on board system readiness menu to check drive mode completion status.
    • If completed, RFC changes from "NO" to "YES".
    • If not completed, Turn ignition off, go back to step 1.
  6. Access diagnostic monitoring test results menu to check monitor results. If measurements are not within specification, repair has not been completed.
  7. Verify no DTCs are available.
