Voltage Drop Test

NOTE: Make all voltmeter connections at component terminal rather than at cable or wire end. Clean all connections at starter and battery before beginning this test.
  1. Disconnect fuel shutoff switch harness connector. Connect remote starter switch between starter solenoid terminal "S" and positive battery post. Connect voltmeter positive lead to positive battery post and negative lead to solenoid terminal "M". See Fig 1 . Engage remote starter switch while observing voltmeter. If greater than 0.5 volt exists, go to next step. If 0.5 volt or less exists, go to STARTER GROUND CIRCUIT TEST  .
  2. Move negative voltmeter lead to solenoid terminal "B". Engage remote starter switch while observing voltmeter. If greater than 0.5 volt exists, recheck all starter solenoid connections. Ensure connections are clean and tight. Recheck voltage drop. If greater than 0.5 volt still exists, replace positive battery cable. Retest system.
