System Operation Check

  1. Verify that the battery is fully charged. With the ignition switch at ON, verify that the ABS warning light goes off after 4 seconds. 
    • If the light stays at ON after 4 seconds  the control module detects a failure and will not activate the hydraulic unit. Follow the troubleshooting procedures.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  3. On level ground, jack up the vehicle and support it evenly on safety stands. Shift the transaxle to neutral (MTX) or N range (ATX).
  4. Release the parking brake.
  5. Rotate the wheels by hand, and inspect for brake drag.
  6. Connect the SST (WDS or equivalent) to the data link connector-2 (DLC-2). See ABS AND TCS ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS  .
  7. Select ACTIVE COMMAND MODES.
    CAUTION:
    • To prevent damage to the solenoid valve, do not keep the valve ON for more than 5 seconds.
  8. Input the LF_OUTLET ON command.
  9. Depress the brake pedal, and have an assistant verify that the left front wheel can be turned by hands.
  10. If the wheel can not be turned, replace the ABS hydraulic unit component.
  11. Depress the brake pedal.
    CAUTION:
    • To prevent damage to the solenoid valve, do not keep the valve ON for more than 5 seconds.
  12. Select ACTIVE COMMAND MODES and input the following commands.
    1. F_OUTLET ON
    2. F_INLET ON
    3. MP_MOTOR ON
  13. With the brake pedal still depressed, have an assistant verify that the brake is released and that the left front wheel can be turned by hands.
    • If the wheel can not be turned, replace the ABS hydraulic unit component.
  14. Inspect operation of the remaining wheels in the same manner as steps 8-15 by using appropriate commands.
