DTC P0116: ECT Sensor Circuit Performance Problem: Condition
DTC is set when Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects input from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is less than 50°F (10°C), after vehicle has hot soaked for at least 6 hours, engine coolant temperature is 230°F (110°C) and vehicle speed is more than 15 MPH. This is a continuous monitor. MIL is illuminated when PCM detects malfunction during 2 consecutive drive cycles. Possible causes are:
- ECT sensor malfunction.
- Poor ECT sensor or PCM connector connection.
- PCM malfunction.
