Standard Drive Mode
NOTE:
Eight hour cold soak time may be shortened by 3 hours depending on vehicle conditions. If soak period is shortened, PCM may detect a malfunction even after repairs. This may happen during warm or hot ambient conditions.
- If not performing EVAP monitor repair verification drive mode, go to next step. If performing EVAP monitor repair verification drive mode, cold soak vehicle for 8 hours first. In cold weather conditions, 8 hour cold soak time may not be necessary and can be shortened by 3 hours. To shorten cold soak, go to step 5 . If it is not necessary to shorten cold soak, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool. Turn off all accessories. Start engine. Accelerate to 40 MPH within 20 seconds. Drive vehicle at 35-45 MPH for 5.5 minutes. Accelerate to 50-60 MPH within 10 seconds and remain at that speed for at least 2 minutes. Stop vehicle and allow to idle for 20 seconds or more.
- Using scan tool, check drive mode completion status. If drive mode is not completed, repeat procedure again. If drive mode is completed, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, check values. If values are within specification, verify no DTCs are present. Repair is complete. If values are not within specification, repair is not complete.
- To by-pass 8 hour soak time, cool fuel tank as much as possible. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, reset 8 hour timer. Leave ignition on. Perform standard drive mode test. Go to step 2 .
