Rear Axle Speed Sensor Rotor (4WABS) Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Remove the differential from the rear axle. For 2001 models refer to DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY and for 2002 models refer to REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE (STANDARD & LIMITED SLIP) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove the 10 bolts retaining the ring gear to the differential case.
  3. NOTE: Only remove speed sensor rotor if replacement is required. It does not have to be removed for ring bearing replacement.
  4. Remove the ring gear, referring to RING GEAR REMOVAL NOTE .
  5. NOTE: The rotor must be discarded upon removal. If removed, a new speed sensor rotor must be installed.

  6. Remove the speed sensor rotor by tapping with a soft-face hammer. Discard the speed sensor rotor.
  7. Install in reverse order of removal, referring to RING GEAR & SPEED SENSOR ROTOR INSTALLATION NOTE
