Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
CAUTION:
Do not apply vacuum out of specification. Will damage Fuel Tank Pressure sensor.
- Disconnect PCM harness connector. Connect 104-Pin Breakout Box (49-UN01-130) on all models except Millenia or Adapter Harness (49-TO18-906) on Millenia to PCM harness connector and then to PCM. See Figure
or Fig 1
. Turn ignition switch on. Connect DVOM to appropriate PCM terminal. See FTP SENSOR/PCM TERMINAL LOCATION
table.FTP SENSOR/PCM TERMINAL LOCATION
Application PCM Terminal Except Millenia 62 Millenia 2.3L 3F 2.5L 3U - Apply pressure or vacuum to Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor and verify output voltage is within specification. See FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS
table. If all voltage readings are as specified, FTP sensor is functioning properly. If any voltage reading is not as specified, go to next step.FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS
Application - Applied Vacuum Output Voltage Except 626 -1.07 in. Hg .45-.55 0 in. Hg 2.25-2.75 +1.97 in. Hg 4.05-4.95 626 -1.07 in. Hg 0.38-0.62 0 in. Hg 2.42-2.58 +1.97 in. Hg 4.38-4.62 - Turn ignition switch off. Check continuity of circuits between FTP sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity is present in all circuits, go to next step. If continuity is not present in one or more circuits, repair wire harness as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage at FTP sensor harness connector terminal "B" (terminal "A" on 626). See Fig 2 . Voltage should be less than one volt. Measure voltage at FTP sensor harness connector terminal "C". Voltage should be 4.5-5.5 volts. If voltage is as specified, replace FTP sensor. If voltage is not as specified, locate and repair short circuit in wire harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
