Mode 1 - PCM Adaptive Memory Produce Drive Mode

  1. Start engine and let it idle until reaches normal operating temperature.
  2. Verify if vehicle is under following conditions, perform correction if necessary:
    • With all accessory loads (A/C, headlights, blower fan, rear window defroster) off.
    • With Initial ignition timing and idle speed within specification. For adjustments see MIATA under IGNITION TIMING or IDLE SPEED in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
    • Without jumper wire between TEN and GND connector terminals at engine compartment DLC.
  3. Race engine speed as shown in the graph. See Fig 1. Then idle engine for more than 20 seconds, after cooling fan stopped. If possible, monitor RPM PID for engine speed. Also monitor FAN No. 1 PID (without A/C) or FAN No. 2 PID (with A/C) for cooling fan status during this procedure.
