Generator No Load Test

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Switch DVOM to voltmeter function. Connect positive lead to generator connector A-172 (Black/Orange wire). Connect negative lead to ground.
  2. Start engine, turn all electrical accessories off. With engine running at 2000 RPM, monitor generator voltage output. If voltage output is 13-15 volts, generator is operating normally. If output is not 13-15 volts, investigate concern. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
