Cooling System Bleeding: B2300

WARNING: To avoid personal injury, do not unscrew the coolant pressure relief cap while the engine is operating or hot. The coolant system is under pressure; steam and hot liquid can come out forcefully when the cap is loosened slightly. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: Check the coolant level, engine oil and transmission fluid. Top off the coolant if needed. If there is engine coolant in the engine oil or transmission fluid the cause must be corrected and oil/fluid changed or major component damage may occur.
CAUTION: Vehicle cooling systems are filled with VC-7-A (Yellow color) coolant. Always fill the cooling system with the same coolant that is present in the system. Do not mix coolant types.
  1. Ensure the radiator draincock is fully closed.
  2. Fill the system through the degas bottle cap to 15 mm above the maximum fill level.
  3. Install the degas bottle cap.
  4. WARNING: DO NOT stand in line with or near the engine cooling fan blade when revving the engine.
  5. Start the engine and hold the engine speed at 2500 RPM for about 8 minutes until the thermostat opens.
  6. Maintain the engine speed at 2500 RPM for an additional three minutes.
  7. Increase engine speed to 4000 RPM and hold for 5 seconds.
  8. Return the engine speed to 2500 RPM and hold for an additional 3 minutes. If performing filling and bleeding procedure after a complete drain, repeat last 3 steps and then continue. If performing filling and bleeding procedure after only a partial drain, go to next step.
  9. Stop the engine and check for leaks.
  10. Verify the correct fluid level after the engine cools for 20 minutes. Top off the degas bottle to the maximum fill level.
