Generator Warning Light Operation

  1. Verify that the battery is fully charged.
  2. Verify that the drive belt deflection/tension is correct. See BELT TENSION  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON position and verify that the generator warning light illuminates. If warning light does not illuminate, inspect generator warning light, wiring harnesses between the battery, generator warning light, and PCM terminal No. 98. See Fig 1. If the generator warning light and the wiring harnesses are okay, replace the PCM.
  4. Verify that the generator warning light goes off after the engine is started. If it does not go out, connect Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS), or equivalent scan tool and check if any one of the following DTCs in the on-board diagnostic system are displayed:
    • P0112, P0113, P1631, P1633 or P1634.
  5. If P0112, P0113, P1631, P1633 or P1634 are displayed, see the following:

If no DTCs are present, perform appropriate test under ON-VEHICLE TESTS .
