Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Removal/Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L for 3.0L or see ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 4.0L for 4.0L.
  3. Disconnect engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector.
    NOTE:
  4. Remove the ECT sensor.

  5. Install in reverse order of removal.
    1. Tightening torque 
      1. 16-24 N.m (1.6-2.4 kgf.m, 12-17 ft.lbs)
