Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Removal/Installation - 2.3L: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See LIFTING .
  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

  4. Remove the plug for the Crankshaft Timing Peg.

  5. Install the special tool and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.

  6. Install the M6 bolt (1F2012-428).
    NOTE:
    • A new CKP sensor must be installed when ever the old sensor is removed.
  7. Remove the CKP.

  8. Install an M6 bolt.
