Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Out Of Synchronization

NOTE:
  • All remote transmitters must be present to begin diagnosis of the remote keyless entry (RKE) system.
SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER OUT OF SYNCHRONIZATION

PINPOINT TEST 5 REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER OUT OF SYNCHRONIZATION
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 RESYNCHRONIZE THE INOPERATIVE REMOTE TRANSMITTER
  • Key OFF.
  • Press any button on the inoperative remote transmitter four times consecutively within 30 seconds.
  • Does the remote transmitter operate correctly now? 
Yes The system is OK. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to step 2.
2 CHECK FOR A SECOND REMOTE TRANSMITTER
  • Check for another keyless entry remote transmitter that works with the vehicle.
  • Is there another keyless entry remote transmitter that works with the vehicle? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Go to step 4.
3 RESYNCHRONIZE THE INOPERATIVE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE TRANSMITTER USING THE SECOND KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE TRANSMITTER
  • Press any button on the operational keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Within 30 seconds press a button on the inoperative keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Check the inoperative keyless entry remote for correct operation.
  • Does the keyless entry remote transmitter in question operate correctly? 
Yes The system is OK. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation.
No Go to step 4.
4 PROGRAM THE INOPERATIVE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE TRANSMITTER
Yes The system is OK. INFORM the customer that any remote transmitters not present will need to be reprogrammed. Clear the DTCs. Test the system for normal operation.
No See DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK USING THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER .
