Battery And Battery Tray Removal/Installation

NOTE:
  • When connecting the battery cables, connect the positive battery cable first, then connect the negative battery cable.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable first, then disconnect the positive battery cable.
  2. Remove battery heat shield.
    WARNING:
    • When lifting a battery, excessive pressure on the end walls could cause acid to leak out through the vent caps, resulting in personal injury, damage to the vehicle or battery. Lift with battery carrier.
  3. Remove the battery hold down bolt (1) and battery hold down clamp (2).
  4. Remove the battery.

  5. Remove the battery tray.
    NOTE:
    • When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 kilometer (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
  6. Install in reverse order of removal.
