DTC P0117 - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA AND DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS HAVE BEEN RECORDED Have FREEZE FRAME DATA and DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS (Engine cooling system related) been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Record FREEZE FRAME DATA and DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING TEST RESULTS on repair order, then go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY Check for related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability. Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS-IS CONCERN INTERMITTENT OR CONSTANT Connect the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box) to the PCM connector. (See PCM INSPECTION USING THE SST (104 PIN BREAKOUT BOX) ) Turn key to ON. Measure voltage at breakout box terminal 41. Is voltage below 0.14 V?	YES	Go to the next step.
3		No	Intermittent concern exists. Go to INTERMITTENT CONCERNS TROUBLESHOOTING procedure. (See INTERMITTENT CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING .)
4	INSPECT TERMINAL BENT Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect ECT sensor connector. Check for bent of ECT sensor terminals A and B (part-side). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the terminal, then go to Step 8.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	CLASSIFY ECT SENSOR MALFUNCTION OR HARNESS MALFUNCTION Disconnect ECT sensor connector. Turn key to ON (Engine off). Measure voltage at breakout box terminal 41. Is voltage below 0.14 V?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Replace ECT sensor, then go to Step 8.
6	INSPECT ECT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND Turn the ignition switch off. Disconnect PCM connector. Check continuity between ECT sensor terminal A (harness-side) and body ground. Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace harness for short to ground, then go to Step 8.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	INSPECT IAT CIRCUIT FOR SHORT HARNESSES Check continuity between ECT sensor terminal A and B (harness-side). Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace harness for short, then go to the next step.
7		No	Go to the next step.
8	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0117 COMPLETED Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the WDS or equivalent. Start turn key to ON (Engine off). Is same DTC present?	Yes	Replace PCM, then go to the next step.
8		No	Go to the next step.
9	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE Perform the "After Repair Procedure". See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE .) Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE .)
9		No	Troubleshooting completed.
