Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
  3. Remove the bolts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.

  4. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors.
  5. NOTE:
    • If necessary, lubricate the HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor with Penetrating and Lock Lubricant to aid in removal.

  6. Using the special tool, remove the HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor.
  7. NOTE:
    • Apply a light coat of High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant to the threads of the HO2S to aid in installation.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
