Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Removal / Installation - 2.3L: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .

  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

  4. Remove the plug for the crankshaft timing peg SST.

  5. Install the special tool and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.

  6. Install the M6 bolt (1F2012-428).
    NOTE:
    • A new CKP sensor must be installed when ever the old sensor is removed.
  7. Remove the CKP.

  8. Install an M6 bolt.
