Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor - 2.3L: Installation

CAUTION:
  • Only hand tighten the bolt or damage to the front cover may occur.

  1. Install a 6 mm (0.23 in) x 18 mm (0.7 in) standard bolt.
    NOTE:
    • Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
  2. Install the CKP sensor and the bolts.
    NOTE:
    • The CKP sensor alignment tool is supplied with the new sensor and is not available separately.
  3. Adjust the CKP sensor alignment jig and tighten the CKP bolts.

    Tightening Torque: 

    7 Nm {0.7 kgf-m, 62 in-lbf} 

  4. Connect the CKP sensor.

  5. Remove the bolt.

  6. Remove the crankshaft timing peg SST.

  7. Install the plug.

  8. Install the RH splash shield and the bolts.

    Tightening Torque: 

    8 Nm {0.8 kgf-m, 71 in-lbf} 

  9. Connect the negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
