Windshield Glass: Removal
WARNING:
- To prevent glass splinters from entering the eyes or cutting the hands, wear safety glasses and heavy gloves when cutting the glass from the vehicle.
- Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms.
- Remove the A-pillar trim panel. See A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the sun visors.
- Remove the sun visor clips.
- Lower the front portion of the headliner.
- Remove the interior rear view mirror. See INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR .
- Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld area.
NOTE:
- Lubricate the urethane bond with water to aid the special tool when cutting the urethane seal.
- Using SST 164-R2450, cut the urethane adhesive from the windshield glass starting at the top center and work toward the bottom corners.
- Using SST 164-R2459, distance the windshield glass from the body.
- Using SST 164-R2450, cut the remaining urethane adhesive and remove the windshield glass.
- Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld area.
