Mirror Base Installation

WARNING:
  • Always wear gloves when using a utility knife. Using a utility knife with bare hands can cause injury.
  1. Using a utility knife, remove sealant from the base and the windshield completely.
  2. Clean and degrease the ceramic part of the windshield and the base.
    CAUTION:
    • To prevent weakening of the primer adhesion, keep the bonding surface free of dirt, moisture, and grease. Do not touch the surface with your hand.
  3. Apply primer to the area of the adhesive for the front window glass and base.
  4. Apply glass primer on the windshield, and body primer on the base, then allow it to dry for approx. 20-30 min  .
  5. Apply sealant 3 mm {0.1 in}  in thickness as shown in the figure.

  6. Install the base to the position 5 mm {0.2 in}  from the edge of the ceramic area, then press it firmly.

  7. Remove the excess sealant using isopropyl alcohol. Sealant hardening time

    35 °C {98 °F} Approx. 10 min Approx. 2 h
  8. Install the rearview mirror. (See REARVIEW MIRROR INSTALLATION .)
