Quarter Window Glass Removal

WARNING:
  1. Using the piano wire with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using the piano wire.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION )
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Trunk covering Refer to TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Trunk board Refer to TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Trunk side pocket Refer to TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Trunk end trim Refer to TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Rear scuff plate Refer to REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Third-row seat cushion Refer to THIRD-ROW SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Third-row seat back component Refer to THIRD-ROW SEAT BACK COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Trunk side trim Refer to TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Lower anchor installation bolt on the third-row seat belt Refer to THIRD-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. D-pillar trim Refer to D-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Adjust anchor cover on the second-row seat belt Refer to SECOND-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Upper anchor installation bolt on the second-row seat belt Refer to SECOND-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. C-pillar trim Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Cut the quarter window glass molding at the position shown in the figure.

  4. Apply protective tape along the edge of the body and the quarter window glass.

  5. Cut the tip of the piano wire diagonally to facilitate insertion of the piano wire through the sealant.

  6. Avoiding pins on the inside of the vehicle, insert the piano wire which has been cut to sufficient length.

  7. Install the piano wire to the piano wire grip.
  8. Secure one end of piano wire, and while pulling the other end, cut the sealant around the quarter window glass.
    NOTE:
    • Use a long sawing action to spread the work over the whole length of piano wire to prevent it from breaking due to localized heating.

  9. Pull the quarter window glass outward and detach the pins from the body.
