Generator Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:
  • Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.
  • When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with generator terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before performing the following operation.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the front under cover No. 2. (Refer to FRONT UNDER COVER No. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Remove the front splash shield (RH). (Refer to FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the generator drive belt. (Refer to DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (Refer to DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the plug hole plate. (Refer to PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
