Shift-lock Override Button Inspection

Switch the ignition to off.
Verify that the selector lever is in the P position.
Without the brake pedal depressed, verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P position.
Perform the following procedure for vehicles with shift-lock override cover.
1. Remove the shift-lock override cover using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

2. Insert the flathead screwdriver and press the shift-lock override button.
Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from the P position.
- If not as verified, replace the selector lever. (Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
