Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Removal/Installation

Replacement Part

O-ring

Quantity: 1

Location of use: ECT sensor

WARNING:

A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
Pull out the evaporative hose No. 1 from the catch tank and set it aside.

Pull out the ventilation hose from the air hose and set it aside.

Remove the clip and loosen the wiring harness.

Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
