Rivet Removal Note
- Perform the following procedure to prevent the rivet from penetrating the interior of the front door panel.
- Perform the following procedure and remove the fastener.CAUTION:
- Always use a drill bit of the specified diameter when removing the rivet. If an inappropriate diameter drill bit is used, the front door glass run-channel and the front door panel may be damaged.
- Set the following diameter drill bit to the drill.
Drill bit diameter
3 mm
- Drill a preparation hole using a drill.
- Set the following diameter drill bit to the drill.
Drill bit diameter
5 mm
- Gouge off the rivet flange using a drill.
- Remove the fastener from the front door glass run-channel.CAUTION:
- Perform the following procedure carefully with 2 or more people (1 person in cabin, other outside of cabin) to prevent the rivet from dropping. Otherwise, it could drop inside the front door panel.
- Collect the remaining rivet using the following procedure.CAUTION:
- Use a soft cloth to prevent the remaining rivet from falling to the bottom of the front door and losing it.
- Hold the soft cloth in your hand and put your hand in the service hole cover installation hole.
- Drop the remaining rivet.
- Collect the remaining rivet at the position shown in the figure (estimated drop point of rivet)
