2020-2021 CX-30 with VINS lower than 3MVDM******225639 (produced before October 23, 2020)
DESCRIPTION
When replacing the body control module (BCM), some ECUs may need reprogramming. Without reprogramming the concerned ECUs, the power saving function may not work properly.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:
After reprogramming, the low battery warning function for lead-acid battery is added to the vehicle.
- Explain the low battery warning function to the customer using the attached leaflet.
(Before handing the leaflet to a customer, cut the alignment marks on each corner as shown in blue broken lines.)
- Reprogram the ECU with the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS), using the Mazda Diagnostic And Repair Software (MDARS). Refer to MDARS ECU Reprogramming Procedure.
- If the current calibration file name in the ECU FILENAME screen is the same as shown in the Calibration Files Information or with a later suffix, reprogramming is not necessary.
- If DTC U2120:00 or/and U2500:82 are stored and i-ACTIVSENSE warning light (amber) turns on after the reprogramming, refer to SA-043/20.
- If the Welcome Lamp function is accidently activated while using MDARS, it may also cause this concern. Check and correct as necessary. Refer to the SA-054/20 for details.
- If MDARS requires Manual PCM Software Number Entry, perform the following:
- Look for the small sticker on the PCM that has the software number "**** 18 8K2*" printed on it.
- Enter the software number adding "-" instead of a space.
Example: If "PX06 18 8K2H" is printed, enter "PX06-18-8K2H".

NOTE: Entering the wrong Software Number may lead to inappropriate software downloading and could result in abnormal operation of the vehicle.
- Look for the small sticker on the PCM that has the software number "**** 18 8K2*" printed on it.
- Clear the DTC, turn the ignition off, and get out of the vehicle.
- Close and lock the door.
- Wait for at least ten minutes.
- Verify the repair by starting the engine and making sure the Check Engine light is OFF and no abnormal warning lights are ON.NOTE: If any DTC should remain after performing a DTC erase, diagnose the DTC according to the instructions on MGSS.
