Selector Lever Component Removal/Installation: Notes

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)

Perform the following procedure to remove the selector lever knob.

NOTE:

If the servicing is difficult, release the shift lock manually and shift the selector lever to the N position.

Insert the tool (width: 6 mm {0.2 in} or less, thickness: 1 mm {0.04 in} or less) as shown in the figure.

Move the tool in the direction of arrow (1) in the figure and detach the hook. Move the lock release button cover in the direction of arrow (2) in the figure and remove it.

Remove the spring.

Remove the selector lever knob.

Remove the following parts.
1. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
4. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Disconnect the selector lever component connector.

Disconnect the selector cable (selector lever side). (See SELECTOR CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the rear vent duct. (With rear vent) (See REAR VENT DUCT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the nuts.

Remove the selector lever component.
Install in the reverse order of removal. (See SELECTOR LEVER KNOB INSTALLATION NOTE .)
