Not P Position Switch Inspection: Notes

NOTE:
  • The not P position switch is built into the selector lever component.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the selector lever knob. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Remove the following parts:
  4. For vehicles without the electric parking brake, install the following parts.
    1. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Front console (See FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. CD player (See CD PLAYER REMOVAL .)
    5. Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Shift bezel (See SHIFT BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Center console tray (See CENTER CONSOLE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  5. For vehicles with the electric parking brake, install the following parts.
    1. Rear console bracket (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Front console component (See FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Switch panel No. 2 (See SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    7. Console side panel (See CONSOLE SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.

  7. Verify that the continuity between selector lever component terminals B and G.
