Rear Door Glass Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Perform the rear door glass preparation. (See REAR DOOR GLASS PREPARATION .)
    NOTE:
    • Before removing the rear door glass, the removal procedure for the rear door glass installation bolt can be facilitated by adjusting the top of the rear door glass to the position approx. 150 mm {5.91 in} away from the upper part of the rear beltline molding.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION (US) .)
  3. Remove the following parts:
    1. Power window subswitch (rear) (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear door trim (See REAR DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Rear inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
      CAUTION:
      • If the bolt is removed without supporting the rear door glass, the rear door glass may fall off and be damaged. Remove the bolt while inserting your hand into the service hole cover No. 1 installation hole to support the rear door glass.
  4. Remove the rear door weatherstrip in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure by pulling it upward.

    CAUTION:
    • When removing the service hole cover, insert the remover tool so as not to damage the seal rubber.
  5. Insert a remover tool into the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of the arrow, and detach the tabs from the rear door panel.

  6. Disconnect the connector.

  7. Remove the wiring harness clips.
  8. Remove the grommet.

  9. Move service hole cover No. 1 in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove it while pulling out the inner handle cable.
  10. Apply protective tape to the edge part of the service hole cover No. 1 installation hole to prevent injury.

  11. Remove the bolts.

  12. Partially peel back the rear door glass run channel.

  13. Move the glass guide in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

  14. Rotate the glass guide in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure.
  15. Remove the glass guide in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure.
  16. Remove the bolt.

  17. Hold the upper part of the rear door glass while supporting the rear door glass from the service hole cover No. 1 installation hole with your hand.

  18. Lift the rear door glass in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, shift the hand which is supporting the rear door glass from the service hole cover No. 1 installation hole to the upper part of the rear door glass, then pull it in the direction of arrow (3) while tilting it in the direction of arrow (2) shown, and remove it from the rear door.
  19. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See SERVICE HOLE COVER INSTALLATION NOTE .)
  20. Perform the power window system initialization procedure. (See POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE .)
