Function Inspection

  1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  2. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
  3. Display the PIDs EVAP_PRES and FTP. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .) (See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G (US))] .)
  4. Lift up the vehicle with the M-MDS connected.
  5. Remove the evaporative hose (atmosphere side) and evaporative hose (fuel tank side) connected to the charcoal canister.
  6. Disconnect the quick release connector (fuel tank side) connected to the pressure control valve component.
  7. Verify the PIDs EVAP_PRES and FTP value are as specified.

    Standard 

    STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    EVAP_PRES FTP
    V kPa {kgf/cm2 , psi}(1)
    Approx. 2.6 Approx. 0 {0, 0}
    (1) The fuel tank pressure displayed on the M-MDS indicates the difference between the pressure and the barometric pressure.
    • If the specified value can be verified, go to the next step.
    • If the specified value cannot be verified, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  8. Verify that the output voltage of the fuel tank pressure sensor (PID: EVAP_PRES) changes when pressure is applied from the quick release connector (fuel tank side).
