Rear Abs Wheel-Speed Sensor Removal/Installation: Notes
- Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
- Release the electric parking brake.
- Switch the ignition OFF while pressing the electric parking brake switch.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)] .)
- For the 4SD, remove the following parts:
- Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)] .)
- Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- For the 5HB, remove the following parts:
- Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)] .)
- Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Partially peel back the trunk side trim to a position where the rear ABS wheel speed sensor connector can be disconnected. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)]

- For the 5HB or 4SD (RH), remove the trunk side insulator. (See TRUNK SIDE INSULATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the clip from the body.
- Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor connector.
- Press the grommet tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure and detach them from the vehicle body.
- Press the grommet in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and press out the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor toward the outside of the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove in the order indicated in the table.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- After installation, verify that there is no twisting in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor.
