Engine Does Not Restart: Notes

ENGINE DOES NOT RESTART (SKYACTIV-G) DESCRIPTION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

Troubleshooting item Engine does not restart
Description
  • The engine does not restart after the engine was stopped by the i-stop control.
Possible cause
  • DTCs are stored in the following modules.
    • PCM
    • TCM (ATX)
    • DSC HU/Control Module (without Mazda M Hybrid)
    • Electronically controlled brake unit (with Mazda M Hybrid)
    • Dash-electrical supply unit
    • Body control module (BCM)
  • Engine does not crank when engine restart is initiated
    • Engine starting system malfunction
  • i-stop (engine stop control) permit conditions are not met due to either of the following causes:
    • Driver operation
    • Environment (problem other than with vehicle)
    • i-stop related part malfunction
    NOTE:
    • PIDs related to i-stop can be displayed in a list using the M-MDS data monitor diagnostic function.
    • If the engine is stopped by the i-stop control while the following data monitor items on the MMDS are being viewed, the data monitor items may no longer be displayed.
      • ACC LON C
      • BRK FLD PRES
      • BRK PEDAL SW
      • WSPD SEN L/F
      • WSPD SEN L/R
      • WSPD SEN R/F
      • WSPD_SEN_R/R

ENGINE DOES NOT RESTART (SKYACTIV-G - US) DESCRIPTION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

Troubleshooting item Engine does not restart
Description
  • The engine does not restart after the engine was stopped by the i-stop control.
Possible cause
  • DTCs are stored in the following modules.
    • PCM
    • TCM
    • Electronically controlled brake unit
    • Dash-electrical supply unit
    • Body control module (BCM)
  • Engine does not crank when engine restart is initiated
    • Engine starting system malfunction
  • i-stop (engine stop control) permit conditions are not met due to either of the following causes:
    • Driver operation
    • Environment (problem other than with vehicle)
    • i-stop related part malfunction
    NOTE:
    • PIDs related to i-stop can be displayed in a list using the M-MDS data monitor diagnostic function.
    • If the engine is stopped by the i-stop control while the following data monitor items on the M-MDS are being viewed, the data monitor items may no longer be displayed.
