Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Removal/Installation

Location of use: ECT Sensor

WARNING:

A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION ).
Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT ).
Remove the following parts:
1. Plug hole plate (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
2. Battery (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
3. Air inlet pipe (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT ).
