Fuel Injection Pump Governor

The injection pump governor is an idle and maximum speed governor. Its regulating spring is measured and adjusted in such a manner that the governor will not govern in a partial load range.

In partial and full load range, the control rod of the injection pump is operated by accelerator pedal only. This is connected to the adjusting lever of governor via a regulating linkage. The vacuum control unit preloads the idle speed spring and adjusts idle speed.

The vacuum control unit attached to the governor housing is activated by thermo-valves and a switch-over valve. The vacuum control unit is energized by vacuum. The idle speed spring is controlled by a plunger, which is part of the vacuum control unit. The idle speed control is displaced and idle speed is increased. See Fig 1 .
