Code 2, Throttle Valve Switch

  1. Turn ignition "OFF". Unplug CIS-E control unit connector. Connect ohmmeter lead between sockets No. 2 and No. 5 of socket box. See Fig 1 . With throttle at wide open position, ohmmeter should read less than 1 ohm resistance. If not, check wire harness.

  2. Unplug throttle valve switch connector. With ohmmeter leads between sockets No. 5 and No. 3 of socket box, ohmmeter reading should be less than one ohm. With ohmmeter leads between ground and socket No. 2, ohmmeter reading should be less than one ohm. If not, repair open circuit.
  3. With ohmmeter leads between pins No. 2 and 3 of throttle switch connector, ohmmeter should read infinite resistance. With throttle valve at wide open position, ohmmeter should read less than one ohm. Adjust or replace throttle valve switch if reading is out of range.
